I’ve had my own business for over two decades now.
It started with Blooming Beautiful, selling secondhand maternity clothes on behalf of others, when my eldest was just six months old.
From there, I created Lioness – designing and making breastfeeding tops while pregnant with my second.
We sold those businesses when we moved and bought our first home. Then came two more children, a house renovation, and eventually I retrained as a landscape designer and started Once Upon A Garden Landscape Design.
That was over 10 years ago now, and I still run that business today – helping people create outdoor spaces that are a delight to live in.
As our children have started to leave home, I’ve found myself thinking about what this next stage of life could look like.
I wanted work that could move with me – something I could do from the back of a campervan as we travel the country visiting them.
That’s what led me to create Your Handpicked Life – a space to share what I’ve learned and help other women take their first steps into starting a business of their own.
In a way that fits their life, not someone else’s.
I love helping women take that first step into business ownership.
What I’ve found is this: it’s not always the most traditional or highest-earning path, but it gives you something incredibly valuable – flexibility.
The ability to shape your work around your life, not the other way around.
